I didn’t start A Different Ending because I wanted to start a business. I started it because I lost my dad.
When you lose someone that close, you realise a headstone isn’t enough. A name, two dates and a few carved words — that’s not a life. My dad was stories, memories and moments that still live in my head every day. Yet when you stand at a grave, all you see is stone.
As a stonemason, I’ve spent years restoring memorials and repairing headstones that have stood for decades. I’ve seen thousands of names carved into stone, and I kept thinking the same thing: we preserve the stone perfectly, but we let the story fade.
So I built something different.
A Different Ending connects a memorial plaque to a private digital page where families can store photos, memories and stories in one permanent place. When someone visits the grave, they simply scan the plaque and the life behind the name appears.
